New from CMD: explosion-proof switches PKV MK 2.3

The CMD Company's product range now includes explosion-proof switches PKV MK 2.3—switching devices for controlling and protecting electrical circuits in hazardous areas.

The new solution was developed taking into account market needs and customer requests for explosion-proof switching devices for industrial facilities.

Protection of electrical circuits in hazardous areas

PKV MK 2.3 is designed for safe switching of electrical circuits at facilities where explosive environments may form.

Depending on the design, the device allows:

  • protect the power line from overload;
  • disconnect the circuit in case of short circuit;
  • provide protection when differential current occurs;
  • manually turn the load on and off.

A key feature of the PKV MK 2.3 is the placement of the switching device in an explosion-proof enclosure. This design allows the equipment to be used in environments where sparking contacts, electric arcing, or heating of components should not become a source of ignition in the surrounding explosive atmosphere.

Design features of the PKV MK

The equipment is explosion-proof and designed for operation in difficult industrial conditions.

Explosion-proof enclosure.
Electrical components are housed within a robust enclosure designed to contain any potential internal explosion and prevent flame spread to the outside environment.

High degree of body protection.
The IP66 rating provides protection for equipment against dust penetration and exposure to powerful water jets.

Works in a wide temperature range.
The equipment is designed for operation at ambient temperatures from –60 to +80 °C .

Selecting characteristics for a specific task.
Depending on the project, different nominal currents and numbers of poles are available.

Three design options

The PKV MK line allows you to select a switching device depending on the project requirements.

The circuit breaker is designed to protect electrical circuits from overloads and short circuits. Available in 2- and 4-pole versions with rated currents from 6 to 63 A.

The residual-current circuit breaker provides additional protection against residual-current faults. 1+N and 3+N versions are available with rated currents from 6 to 63 A and a rated residual-current tripping current of 30 mA.

The load switch is designed for manual switching on and off of loads. Available in 2- and 4-pole versions with rated currents of 20, 32, and 63 A.

Main technical characteristics

  • explosion protection marking — 1Ex db IIC T6 Gb X / Ex tb IIIC T85°C Db X ;
  • housing protection rating - IP66 ;
  • rated voltage - up to 400 V ;
  • network frequency - 50/60 Hz ;
  • rated current - up to 63 A depending on the design;
  • body material - corrosion-resistant modified aluminum alloy;
  • climatic performance - UHL1 ;
  • operating temperature range: from –60 to +80 °C .

Where can PKV MK 2.3 be used?

Explosion-proof switches are designed for installations where flammable gases, vapors or dust are present or may be generated.

The equipment can be used at the following facilities:

  • oil and gas and oil refining industries;
  • chemical and pharmaceutical industries;
  • Gas stations and fuel infrastructure;
  • mining industry;
  • enterprises of the food and wood processing industries;
  • elevators and other facilities with potentially explosive dust environments.

Certified SMD solution

Explosion-proof switches PKV MK are certified in accordance with the requirements of TR CU 012/2011 "On the safety of equipment for use in explosive environments."

The new line expands the selection of SMD Company equipment for building power supply and control systems at industrial facilities with hazardous areas.
